I think answering your question would be like a dog chasing its own tail. I may have to fall back on John Keats for help: "Beauty is truth, truth beauty,—that is all Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know."

Presbyterian Women have a phrase they use to explain why they stand for Justice and Peace instead of Peace and Justice -- because without Justice there is no peace.

And if my brain isn't scrambled enough thinking about all this, I have been reading Mortimer Adler's "Six Great Ideas," which are Truth, Beauty, Goodness, Liberty, Equality and Justice. Topped off with Socrates's dialogues, which after two whole books still haven't been able to define justice.

Remember that old 1950s song by Frank Sinatra, Love and Marriage. Supposedly 'You can't have one without the other." Well, he was mistaken, but the principle holds. If you remove any one of the six factors, every other one is negatively impacted. Beauty without Goodness is not Truth, and Liberty without Equality is not Justice.

I imagine there is one superseding idea and that is the Holy Spirit who encompasses all six ideas and when we live in His spirit, we express them all.

At any rate, I am relieved at your question. When I saw your reference to "25 Project" I thought you were about to start a fight. lol

The Altarpiece in St. Mark's Cathedral is a stunning piece of art! Maybe that community had more funds or decided to devote more funds to their worship space in contrast to El Divino Redentor. Nevertheless, there is beauty in the simple, rustic symbolic seal at the Presbyterian church.

I agree with you. Art is expensive and any community of faith should display art according to its ability. The many floral displays at El Divine Redentor, on the Sunday we worshipped there, was an impressive display of the beauty of God's nature. The musical offerings were also an impressive expression of beauty. The Altar piece at St. Mark's Cathedral is a good example of a significant investment of money and artistry to the glory of God.
